The National Independent Electoral Commission has warned that there may be a challenge to cancel some elections in 2023 in some constituencies due to the ongoing security problem in some parts of the country.

The chairman of the commission,.Professor Mahmud Yakubu, who was represented by Professor Abdullahi Abdu, made this warning at a meeting held in Abuja on training on security arrangements during the election.

In another related news the Electoral Commission has denied a news report by a news agency that INEC has released a new list of candidates for the 2023 election.

Festus Okoye, the head of the media department of the National Electoral Commission, denied this in a statement he issued in Abuja.

He said there is no way they will release the names of the final candidates in the few days left for the national election.

Okoye said that there are no names of candidates to be published at the moment, he said that only the names ordered to be replaced by courts will be replace.
